Tales from the Nicked Rock

The Nicked Rock is a (mostly) safe place to share a cheap drink, stay a night or two, and hear a good tale. Although stories trade as good as copper in many parts of Brightshore, a few denizens of the Nicked Rock make it a point to keep track of all the rumors to be had

Threats to Brightshore

A number of threats seems to always be on the edge of the city of Brightshore. Fallwood, a local healer and tinkerer, has made a mostly public collection of them, divided by category


Monsters

Demons, Devil, and Fiends

  • Fallwood enountered Marco summoning multiple demons in an underground chamber in the Ruins outside the city.

Goblinoids

  • Encountered small army (300ish) of Red-Band goblins three days outside of Brightshore in what is dubbed the Main Street of the ruins. Goblins have a single king and signs of interactions with demons and demonic rituals
  • Goblins seen working with hags south of Brightshore. Hags killed but state of goblins unknown. (Zentariel).
  • UPDATED: Goblin warchief, Magu, with a metal construct from the Battle of Brightshore is living with the Hobgoblin army, the Stalwart Shields. Possibly attempting new recruits.(Errol, Baern, and Max).
  • Stalwart Shields ambassador killed in Brightshore. Shields now setting up to attack the city. (Max).

Large Beasts

  • UPDATED: The Blue Dragon has been slain but the many kobolds working for the dragon are an unknown. (Baern)
  • Ancient Green Dragon seen living in the swamp, surrounded by a large bramble maze. Seen working with other monsters.(Nevrus)

Divine Elements

  • Fallwood and others encountered a mysterious man with blond hair and green eyes calling himself “The Oracle”.
  • Encountered large pair of eyes appeared in the air inside a crypt one day east of Brightshore. Referred to Finn (RIP) as “Exarp” (potentially misspelled).

Undead

  • Large number of undead in a hallway behind a door behind a curtain in the shrine underneath the lighthouse on Lookout Island. (Baern)

Miscellaneous

  • Fallwood encountered an aggressive plant life that responds to lies. Source remains unknown but assumed deeper underground.
  • Exploding fire spiders in the sewer near the bridge. Small ones group up and do lots of damage, larger fire spiders seen but not encountered. (Zentariel)
  • Groups of Slaad seen near quarry but have moved on to another location. They were seen possibly attempting to turn humans into Slaads.

Locations

Brightshore

  • Kinstugi Tower lite up and created a blast wave. No cause discovered as of yet.
  • Possible cult members from the cult of kraken wandering around Brightshore. Leader (male human) goes by “Ozymandias,” another leader male elf who called himself “Bayleaf,” and an aggressive human as tall as a Goliath named “Ogman.” (Baern) “Ozymandias” attempted to enter the sacred fountain at the Temple of Olteus, but was stopped. “Bayleaf” was seen with him. (Brynja)
  • Books, scrolls, and bits of writing going missing around town. (Brynja)
  • Undead in sewers below the city. Domed room with a throne and connection to Dwarven ruins marked ‘Boviomatua’ discovered. Connected with a city found in Goodlead Jungle. (Cleo)

The Ruins

  • Portal to hell used by Marco to summon demons. Contains more unexplored pathways (Zentariel) Note: DO NOT USE DIVINE SENSE WHEN GOING DOWN THE SECOND SPIRAL STAIRCASE
  • Strange sounds coming from the sewers of Ruins including Gnolls and red goblin like creatures. Advise caution (Cleo and Borovik)

Goodleaf Jungle

  • Baern and company discovered a teleportation circle that a few sorcerers know the formula to get to.
  • Rumored city full of gems a few days into the jungle (Baern)

Hellion's Mouth

  • Portal to the Abyss that is currently locked but not destroyed. 1 day southwest of Brightshore.
  • Borivik recommends regular check-ins to ensure it remains locked.

Key Locations

  • Deep underneath Gost Citadel was a large magical door that only contained one of six locks (that was then removed). There was no follow up as of yet. (Fallwood)
  • Lookout Island has a dungeon in the basement of the lighthouse full of undead (Baern).
  • A tower was seen being built in the Dark Forest several days south of Brightshore. Noted to have many dangerous shadow creatures in its area but seem restrained to the forest. Bring light.(Errol, Cleo, and Zentariel)
