Lieutenant Rialta thinks life is a grand adventure, and loves cracking jokes, horsing around, and eating sweets. He wears a brown leather jacket over his rumpled tunic, soft leather boots, and always carries his trusty daggers.

He joined the Guard around the same time as Jamie Santangelo, and annoys her and the Captain frequently with his immature antics. However, he is surprisingly intuitive and observant, and is not afraid to throw himself into danger to bring the bad guys to justice.

His mother works as a scribe and teacher. He does not know where his father is.

An energetic, pale-skinned male elf. Perhaps 60, with an impish smile and curly brown hair. Wears a brown leather jacket over a wrinkled, faded tunic, and always munching on unhealthy snacks.

• Reckless and creative (will pursue any and all leads, even into obvious danger; gets out of jams using quick-thinking and ingenuity)

History

Rafe works as a part-time investigator and part time pain-in-the-ass at the Central Guard post. He butts heads often with Captain Bolt, who only allows him to stay because of his impressive track record at catching bad guys and solving mysteries. While his responsibilities also include writing up reports and helping to train and guide new volunteer guards, he loathes filling out paperwork and is a bit lackadaisical as a trainer. His father abandoned him and his mother when he was a child, and he refuses to acknowledge his very obvious daddy-issues.
